I PROMISE-THE STORY:

Forced to leave his most recent foster home in the middle of the night, sixteen year-old CHARLIE hops a train out of New Orleans, a ride he has been waiting for his entire life.  Charlie lands in San Francisco, where he soon hooks up with RICO, manager of The Bayou, a Creole restaurant in nearby Oakland.

Rico provides Charlie with a job, brotherly companionship, and a prostitute for his sixteenth birthday. SIMONE, a beautiful French hooker who frequents the Bayou, is chosen for Charlie.  She feels an immediate affinity for this sensitive man-boy and ends up guiding him through his rites of passage that leaves them both full of emotions that neither of them expected nor experienced before. As their visits continue,  Simone comes to a shocking realization  that changes her and Charlie’s life, forever.
